Well, yesterday just disappeared on me & I didn't get my post for the day up. So, lucky you, get two pics today! The first one is a fluffy chick that the kids were fascinated with at the Oklahoma State Fair. In their birthing center they have eggs set out to watch hatch & then the chicks are in another area afterward. This little guy was so curious about the outside world & would follow my lens around. He walked right up to the side & I was able to get this shot through the water splattered glass. He's so fluffy, cute & warm looking...too bad they grow up to be the opposite of that. I'm not much of a chicken fan.
This gal here we saw outside of Stillwater when we went last week. She's a Belted Galloway, or beltie, as they are affectionately called. I did a presentation in college on rare/non-mainstream cattle breeds and this is one I included. I was thrilled to see some grazing along the roadside! I find them, as well as the other rare breeds so fascinating! Originally from Scotland, they have a double coat of hair to keep them warm. In fact Montgomery-Wards sold Galloway coats at the turn of the century, 1900's that is. There are also non-belted Galloways, but these are much cooler. Anyone else think of Double Stuff Oreos?
